The number one fair for Expats and Internationals in The Hague is on again on Sunday 15 September 2013. For its eighth edition, the fair has a new venue - World Trade Center The Hague.
Finding yourself in the middle of a completely foreign environment often creates as much anxiety as it does exhilaration. Whether you have hauled yourself and your family from the other side of the world with a shipping container in tow, or sailed across the North Sea with a couple of suitcases, making a home in a new country can have its challenges. One way to feel more comfortable and at home is to connect with others and explore the opportunities in the local community.
Since 2006, Feel at Home in The Hague - The International Community Fair has been held every September to assist Expats and Internationals in The Hague region become familiar with the social and cultural opportunities in the region and to meet with other Internationals and families.
New Venue in 2013: World Trade Center, The Hague
Feel at Home in The Hague - The International Community Fair has lured thousands of visitors each year and the exciting news for the 2013 edition is the new venue. This year's fair takes place at the new World Trade Center situated in The Hague's Beatrixkwartier.
The Hagues World Trade Center (WTC), which officially opened last June, offers convenient access for fairgoers coming by car, with underground parking. For those using public transport, the RandstadRail stops outside and it is a mere 10 minute walk from The Hague Centraal Station. Fairgoers can take advantage of the excellent facilities at the WTC such as the Coffee Company, as well as international food outlets.
Discover new Opportunities
As in previous years, fairgoers can expect over 150 stand holders representing sports clubs, community and social groups, arts and cultural organizations as well as business services. Newcomers to The Hague and longstanding residents will discover the abundance of social and cultural activities available in The Hague region and uncover some new opportunities. Visit stand holders offering legal, financial or healthcare services. Find a child care provider, a language course, a fun new sport or hobby, or a volunteering role!
2013 Theme: Volunteering in The Hague
This year's Feel at Home in The Hague - The International Community Fair has the theme Volunteering in The Hague. The fair's organizer, TheHagueOnLine, has partnered with PEP (Participatie Emancipatie Professionals) to show international residents of The Hague how to get involved in volunteering. Even if you dont speak Dutch, you can keep your skills current or learn a new skill, make friends and professional contacts and contribute to the local community through volunteering.
ACCESS, the volunteer not-for-profit organisation that has been serving the needs and interests of the international community in the Netherlands for more than 25 years, also returns to partner with TheHagueOnLine, to recruit and administer registration of the sports, social and community groups for the fair.
